Adrian Heskin, successful earlier on the card for his new boss Barry Connell aboard Black Benny completed a 38/1 double at Galway as Ronava took the Corrib Food Products Handicap Hurdle in fine style.
The Richard Cotter-trained gelding easily won a two-mile handicap at Wexford this summer, and appreciated the drop back again to the minimum trip.
Heskin sent him on after the third last, and the 11/2 chance kept on strongly in the straight to beat Balkinstown by three and a quarter lengths. Roadtotheisland was nearly four lengths further back in third, with fellow 7/2 joint favourite Daigreen completing the placings in fourth.
“He travelled really well, and is a chaser in the making” said Heskin.
