The Real Article showed he still has plenty of his old dash as he comprehensively landed the featured Kerry Group Handicap Chase over two and a half miles at Listowel.
The eight-year-old son of Definite Article, who was a dual Grade 2 winner over hurdles less than two years ago, moved well for Barry Geraghty and led two out before staying on to record a four and a quarter length victory.
Trainer Edward O’Grady said: “Last Tuesday was the first time in a long time that he pleased me in his work for some extraordinary reason.
“I was hoping he would run well. He will only have one more run before I put him away for Spring time. He’ll probably have a wind operation after that run. He’s entered on Tuesday, but he won’t run.”
The 4/1 shot beat Too Strong at 8/1 into second with Prosperity Square (8/1) a further length and three parts back in third.
The Real Article won just over 22,000 euro in this race.
