There were 8/1 co favourites of three for the Follow Roscommon On Facebook Handicap and one of the market leaders, Henson just prevailed under Connor King. Henson got off the mark on attempt number eight on his previous start. Crafted Mastery meanwhile, atoned for earlier disappointments on start five 26 days ago at Gowran, and here she came strong at Henson late on. There was still a neck between them at the line though.
"He is learning the game and he's progressive," declared winning trainer David Marnane in the aftermath.
He then added: "In fairness to him he has never left a cheque behind. He won well the last day and the race has worked out very well.
"I thought that might have been an easy enough race but it wasn't. He won a good race there and he is definitely going the right way. He is in the October Horses In Training Sales but we'll see where we will go with him and hopefully we'll find another race for him before then. He is versatile enough in trip."
P.J. Smullen, rider of Doonard Prince trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left in running.
