Hellyhunter takes the last
Hellyhunter in the well-know silks of Mrs Alex McCarthy, defied a 220 day absence to take the concluding T.V.O'Brien Memorial (Pro/Am) Flat Race under Robbie McNamara at Galway.
When well-backed local favourite, Ad Idem took it up on the approach to the straight it looked like he would send punters home happy but Hellyhunter was soon in his slipstream travelling better.
Once put under pressure, the twice previously raced over hurdles son of Old Vic, stayed on best in the stamina sapping conditions to lead in the last hundred yards and go on for a length and three parts success over The Kings Sword Ad Idem faded to finish a length and a half back in third.
Davy Fitzgerald trains the winner which he also led-up.
