Heavy ground proves key to Companion

The Adrian Joyce trained True Companion gained a second career win, and his first in almost two years, when landing the Kilkenny Apprentice Handicap at Gowran today, under jockey Oisin Orr.
True Company’s only previous win was gained at Dundalk in October 2015 and following today’s defeat of runner-up Admirality Joyce later commented “heavy ground is the key to him; he’s won at Dundalk but doesn't really let himself down on quicker ground.”
The winner is a son of Fast Company, whose progeny include Irish 1,000 Guineas soft ground winner Jet Setting, and Joyce added “he’s in again at Down Royal on Friday and Listowel on Monday and we'll have a look."
