It was third time lucky for Heavenly Power as he came with a strong late surge to claim the six-furlong maiden at the Curragh.
The Eddie Lynam-trained gelding had chased home stable-mate Jon Riggens over five at the track last time and looked to benefit for going back up in trip this evening.
Mark Enright drove the 7/2 shot into contention inside the final furlong and he got his head in front close home to record a half length win over Grigadale
It was a third career outing for the Dark Angel gelding who is a half-brother to former yard star Slade Power.
“The last day he ran like one that you'd say would come back here and win a maiden over six and that's what he's done,” said Lynam.
“It was a competitive maiden although I don't know how good they were. He's progressing with each run.
“I'm over the moon to get a winner for Sabena (Power). We had great luck at the start but haven't had much luck lately so I'm delighted to get a winner.
“His half-brother won a July Cup for me but he's not the colour of him. He is what he is, he's okay and hopefully he'll progress as he's raw.
“The handicapper gave Jon Riggens (stable-mate who beat him last time) 90 so he could get mid-80s but I honestly don't know.
“The problem with these maidens is that they all have ratings but in three months time a lot of those horses with high ratings will still be maidens.
“This track has been lucky to me this year, that's the fourth winner we've had, so we'll keep trying.”
