Hazran put in a stout staying performance in the extended two mile handicap at Killarney.
The 40/1 shot was ridden by Joey Sheridan to hit the front in the final quarter of a mile and the pair soon set sail for home.
The Lope de Vega gelding belied his odds as he increased the gap entering the final furlong. He kept on nicely to win by a snug length and three quarters from Place Des Vosges who ran a creditable race in second having blown the start. Well Funded (33/1) came in third, beaten six and a half lengths by the winner.
Trainer Eugene O'Sullivan said: "It is lovely to get him back as he is a horse who cost us a lot of money and had a few mishaps. I thought the ground, after the rain yesterday, might catch him and that's why he was such a big price.
"He was actually entered for a beginners' chase at Kilbeggan on Friday but that mightn't happen now although we'll mix it away now for the summer.
"Every day he has run badly there has been a valid excuse, so hopefully he has turned the corner now."
