Chris Hayes completed a treble at Killarney today as the dual-Classic winning jockey landed the Redbox Brand Consultants Handicap (div 1) on the Richard O'Brien trained Cautious Approach
Hayes had earlier won the Nursery on the Kevin Prendergast trained Troop Commander before claiming the featured Ruby Stakes on the Fozzy Stack trained Lady Wannabe Hayes completed the hat-trick on Cautious Approach, which was delivered with a well timed challenge to beat Solomons Seal by a length and a quarter.
The daughter of Dawn Approach won a Dundalk maiden last March and while she failed to win in seven subsequent handicap starts, jockey Hayes today stated “she is a filly I knew plenty and I suggested they give her a break last year and go to Dundalk and she won.
“To be honest she has been nothing but unlucky this year and got knocked down nearly every start and that's why I flicked her out in the straight.”
