Have A Nice Day returned to form when recording his eleventh career win but his first over a mile causing a 16/1 surprise in the Big 50 Happy Valley Brewery Classic Handicap at Limerick.
The eight-year-old gelding had gained all his previous ten wins over seven furlongs but Leigh Roche got a nice split over a furlong out and his mount took full advantage.
The Johnny Feane-trained son of Oratorio kept on well inside the final furlong to beat Turbine by a length, with Wild As The Wind just a head away in third.
Feane said, “That’s his first win at a mile as he’s won ten races at seven furlongs. He stuck it out well today.
“There is a couple of races Derby weekend for him, and maybe he’ll go back to seven. He’s a tough, genuine little horse and it’s great to get him another win.”
