Harry plays a Major role
Major Harry responded well to a determined drive by Shay Barry to cause a 20/1 surprise (paid nearly 50/1 on the Tote and €24.20 for a place) in the 2012 Tipperary Supporter's Club Handicap Hurdle.
The Pat Kelly-trained gelding, successful over two miles at Ballinrobe earlier this summer, appeared to appreciate the extra half mile here.
Barry galvanised his mount to challenge Coole Avenue (12/1) approaching the final flight, and a super leap put him in front before going on to gain a length verdict.
The always prominent Winterdown Star (12/1) and Baby Be Mine (14/1) took the minor placings, while the 5/1 favourite Mr Pernickety was driven along soon after halfway and eventually pulled up by Ruby Walsh.
