Hampstead Heath opens his account over fences
Dave Marnane recorded his first winner over fences when his charge Hampstead Heath took division two of the Glenview & Rathbarry Studs (C&G) Beginners Chase under a fine ride by amateur jockey James Casey.
Casey produced the son of Daylami with a well timed run to lead just before the last where he made a slight mistake.
The pair quickly recovered and kept on well for a two length win over Glacial Promise
Winning trainer Marnane said afterwards: "That was my first winner over fences. This lad won first time out over hurdles."
"He jumps well and has always had ability, he has been a bit disappointing on the flat but this is the first time he's got his ground."
"I don't know where we'll go next but he'll mix it up over the Summer."
