Triumphant didn't always impress with his jumping but 7Ib claiming amateur rider Josh Halley did impress in making up the Danehill Dancer gelding's mind as he scored in the Live The Dream With Tote Maiden Hurdle at Tramore.
Four out was bypassed here after Tobar Na Gaoise s early fall – from which Mark Walsh eventually got to his feet (stood down for the evening).
According to the betting the big players after Tobar Na Gaoise's departure were Drunken Counsel and Makethedifference and the latter got closest in second by he was still two and a half lengths adrift of Triumphant at the line.
Halley's father John owns and trains former Group 3 placed Ballydoyle inmate Triumphant and he said: "It's nice to get a win at my home track.
"The change of ground made a big difference to him today."
The Stewards requested a report from J.Halley, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Triumphant, placed first, as compared with its recent form.
The trainer reported that his charge disappointed on his last start in Gowran on very heavy ground. He added that today's better ground helped his charge return to form.
Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
