Those with an aversion to small fields would do well to take a look back on the Christmas Race & Dine Packages Handicap at Dundalk. The four runner affair served up a cracker as Michael Halford and Shane Foley doubled their score on the evening with Regulation
As was the case earlier on Princess Pearlita 'Dusty' took no prisoners from the front aboard Regulation.
Himself (15/8 'jolly') and second market choice Toccata Blue had a tremendous buckle from the quarter mile pole and Foley showed why he's a favourite with many punters by getting every ounce out of his mount.
At the finish Regulation had a length and a quarter in hand on Toccata Blue with three lengths back to Seanie They left the other one, the outsider, Billyford eight lengths back.
"The plan was to come here for a while. I'm hopeful he would make the team for Dubai but he needs to go up a few pounds. I think it would suit him.
"He's getting better and he's solid – I'd like to get him out there.
"He's been immature and babyish but there were no holes in him tonight and that's his trip," said Halford in the aftermath.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Billyford trained by Liam Roche was post race normal.
