The first division of the Junction Handicap resulted in an easy victory for the Denis Hogan-trained Plum Perfect (8/1) under 16-year-old Daniel King.
The Kilbrin, Co.Cork youngster settled his mount towards the rear of the field before asking her for more towards the far side when the runners fanned out in search of better ground in the straight.
The Tamayuz mare, a winner on soft ground at this year’s Galway Festival, responded generously to her rider’s urgings and led over a furlong out before readily going clear to win by five and a half lengths from the slow-starting Business Speak
King, who rode his first winner aboard Malbas at Killarney on Saturday, is a fifth-year secondary school student and reported that he had been at classes in the morning.
"That was brilliant and I can't believe it again,” said King.
"She was very impressive there, loved the ground and galloped right out to the line.
“I was niggling her along the whole way but as we turned in, she came back underneath me and I always knew I was going to get there."
