Mr Good Guy proved best in the claimer at Fairyhouse as hotpot stable-mate Iron Major failed to land a blow in third.
Eddie Lynam saddled two in the seven-furlong contest with Iron Major backed like defeat was out of the question, returning a 8/15 shot having been 11/10 this morning.
Mattydillon cut out the running as Mr Good Guy tracked and the Colm O'Donoghue-ridden 7/1 shot hit the lead a furlong and a half from home.
He kept on well in the closing stages to post a two-and-a-half length victory over Six Of Hearts with a further length-and-a-quarter back to Iron Major.
The winner, running in the colours of the trainer's wife Aileen, had failed to shine in four previous runs this season and was tried in cheek-pieces for the first time today.
"That's one for one of my more important owners," quipped Lynam afterwards.
No claims were lodged after the race.
