Great Start for Maoineach
Jim Bolger's Maoineach made a great start to her career in the Group 3 Go And Go Round Tower Stakes, getting on top inside the final furlong to beat Silver Shoon by one and a quarter lengths.
Following in the hoof-prints of Cherokee, who also made a successful debut in this event back in 2004, Maoineach, a chestnut daughter of Congaree was sourced at the breeze-ups in America for the Bolgers and she was partnered here by Kevin Manning.
With Wexford contesting the All-Ireland football semi-final at Croke Park, many expected the victorious trainer to be an absentee but he said: "It was a toss-up, but the Curragh won by a short-head as duty comes before pleasure."
