Shakeytry fended off Persian Wind by the narrowest margin in the extended two and a quarter mile handicap hurdle at Downpatrick, in which he also had to survive a stewards enquiry.
The 8/1 shot won by an ever-decreasing nose from Persian Wind at 11/1 after an incident on the home bend. Hide The Biscuit was two and three quarter lengths away in third at 9/1.
Jockey Stephen Gray said: "I didn't know to be honest (if I'd held on). I probably hit the front too soon but he stayed going in fairness to him. He got a bit lonely.
"He's a different horse on good ground. Edward (O'Grady) told me to ride him third or fourth and best of luck."
