The Ado McGuinness trained Specific Gravity scored a fourth win of the year at Dundalk today, landing the Crowne Plaza Jockey&Trainer Awards Handicap under capable apprentice jockey Oisin Orr.
The son of Dansili won twice for the late Sir Henry Cecil in 2010 and 2012 but then failed to win before winning at today’s venue last May and today added another course win to others gained in July and October.
Following the race, McGuinness stated “I was going to run him in the claimer but then thought we’d go for the handicap with his mark and a top class claimer on him. When I saw the draw I was very confident and he just seems to love the place.
“We’ll tip away through the winter and maybe run him in one of the good handicaps now.
“He (the handicapper) slaughtered my horse last week (Black Label) so I’m sure I’m going to get the same - he gave him 10lb so what he’s going to give him (Specific Gravity) I don’t know but we’ll take it.
“Sean Gallagher is a great owner of mine and has been a great patron.”
