The Michael Grassick-trained Tooprofitable kept on strongly under Leigh Roche to land the opening Tote Guarantee On All Irish And UK Races Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh.
Having her sixth start of the year, the John Nolan owned filly was the most experienced runner in the field. Those previous runs proved a big advantage as the daughter of Profitable jumped smartly and made most.
Briefly headed inside the final furlong, she showed real battling qualities to get back up and head Run Ran Run close home.
It was a second juvenile winner of the season for trainer Grassick and owner Nolan, following the impressive success of Small Oasis last month.
Michael Grassick senior said:- “Michael's family are sick at the moment, they've had the flu for the week.
“It was a brave decision to go back to a maiden with her handicap mark but I think it was more to get back to the six furlongs with her.
“We'll look at the Birdcatcher but I'd say that will probably be her for this year.
“I think she's done her job now. The owner might want to sell so we'll see what happens.”
