There's no stopping Granny Biddy as she completed a Cork treble in the J.P.McManus Handicap Hurdle.
Mick Winters' mare, the well-backed 6/4 favourite, again had Donie McInerney in the plate as she won her fifth race in six outings (beaten a neck on the other occasion).
They pulled sixteen lengths clear of the third, and though Montys Meadow tried hard he had to yield by a length and three parts to Granny Biddy.
"I thought she was better today than the last day. She thrives on the heavy ground, and when fillies sweeten to the game they keep coming," commented Winters.
"The young McInerney lad is getting a great run out of her but plenty of other lads have done a good job on her down the road. We might come back here for a three-mile race (Grade 3 novice, December 10).
"I'd say she will go chasing next year. The owner is out in Arizona and he's happy but I'd say the first bad run she'll be off till next year. We'll keep going while she's on a roll I'd imagine. We're blessed to have one like her.
"She takes no work but she is a lady. If she is to be clipped she would have to be sedated, so we don't interfere with her at all."
J.W. Kennedy, rider of Canelie (FR) trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled, cut out completely on turning in and was puled up.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Canelie (FR), trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race.
