Grange Island found plenty for pressure when prevailing in a driving finish to the hunters chase at Fairyhouse this afternoon.
Liam Burke's charge came to dispute with front-runner Ask D'Man at the fifth last in the three-miler and had a narrow lead two out as Global Assembly and Dromleigh launched their challenges.
The 18/5 shot answered every call for Mikey O'Connor in the closing stages as he stuck on gamely to record a half length win over 11/8 favourite Global Assembly.
“Mikey gets a great tune out of him, he's very laid-back but he gets on with him,” said Burke.
“He won a hunter chase well in Clonmel last year. He runs better fresh because he disappointed at the end of last season.
“We'll tick away with him and at least he's won one anyway. We could go back for the Tetratema (Hunters Chase) at Gowran with him.”
