Gortnagros lands Limerick finale
John Joe Walsh had his first success of the campaign when Trixie prevailed at Thurles last Thursday and the Doneraile, Co. Cork handler struck again with Gortnagros who ran out a comprehensive three length winner of the concluding Limerickraces.ie Online Booking Mares (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
Ambrose McCurtin stuck to the inside aboard the daughter of Rudimentary, who was second at Clonmel ten days ago and she galloped on strongly to see off Minnie Wyse
Walsh said: "I'm delighted for the owner, John Joyce, a retired chemist from Mallow, as this is his third attempt to get a winner. This is his first ever winner with his third horse.
"She has improved from Clonmel, where she'd have won if there had been a proper gallop. She liked the ground and she might go for a winners race though jumping will be her game. She fell one day in Lismore in a point-to-point when she was going well and she'll make a chaser." Noinin Og suffered fatal injuries when slipping up in this contest.
