Derrylea Girl certainly looked well in the parade ring in advance of the Style Evening At Tramore Races Mares Maiden Hurdle. Plenty backed the attractive daughter of Presenting (14s into 8s) and she rewarded her backers with a length and a half win.
Joe Holly led going out on the final circuit on Derrylea Girl and she fought off all challengers from before the last. Stay In My Heart filled the runner-up spot whilst there was three and three parts of a length and a length and a half back to Rhinestone Cowgirl and the well-backed favourite Mutiska (11/4 into 2/1).
"I'm delighted for the owners (the Always Optimists Syndicate) who have been with me a long time. She'll probably go handicapping now," remarked winning trainer Tom Cooper, ending a barren spell stretching back to last winter. (DM & EM)
