Morning Vietnam was the good debut winner of Dundalk's Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden today, landing a gamble (11/4, returned 13/8f) when scoring impressively under champion jockey Colin Keane.
The powerful son of Bungle Inthejungle was bumped by a rival early in the home straight but had travelled well throughout and readily quickened clear to impressively beat runner-up Charanda
Winning trainer Michael O'Callaghan commented “he's a horse with a bit of class. He does everything very easily at home and he's a very mature horse. He has loads of pace and Colin said he felt like he went around there in second gear.
“Colin was very complimentary of him and the way he saw that out, he said he would be better in a better race.”
He added “this time of year we are all dreaming of Ascot but there are very few places for him to go now. We might go for a five furlong Listed race at the Curragh if the ground is alright but wants nice ground as he is a good-moving horse."
