Golden shows his guts again
The Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase had an open look to it but Golden Kite was eventually dispatched the 5/1 market-leader and he became the fourth winning favourite in as many races at Tramore when he scored by three parts of a length under Brian O'Connell.
Gaining his fifth win on the racecourse proper (interestingly has never scored by more than a length and a quarter) Golden Kite defied top-weight from the staying-on Bold Fencer with just a short head and three parts of a length back to the placed horses, Oscar Glory and Blaze Trailer Scavenger the eventual fifth was in front with every chance when blundering two out.
Successful trainer, Adrian Maguire said: "He is a real trier. I was a bit concerned about the two mile six around a sharp track like that. He loves the fast ground and that is the key to him. We'll keep going for the summer. That's Brian's first winner for me."
