War Of Attrition's brother Pencilhimin was the second regally bred winner at Limerick today, putting his substantially sized head down at the right time to win the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Facebook Handicap Hurdle 'on the nod'.
Ridden by capable claimer Danny Benson, the strapping Pencilhimin dwarfed runner-up Snapchat on the run-in. At the line, the winner's hind quarters finished behind the runner-up but his head, more importantly finished ahead, scoring a short head win.
Pencilhimin's win was coming over an hour after Kauto Star's half brother Kauto Grand Mogul and following the race, winning trainer Norman Cassidy quipped “what's seldom is wonderful! He's my only horse in training and I have very few runners these times.
“He has had lots of problems and has nuts and bolts in a joint and also suffers with his back. His previous owners pulled out of him and I have him a year; he is only rated 102 over fences and might go chasing next.”
