Go Boy lands massive gamble for Molloy and O'Dwyer

Go Boy landed a massive gamble for trainer Mark Molloy when staying on nicely to win the Geary's Garage Kilmeedy Maiden Hurdle at Limerick.
The Doctor Dino gelding was making his first start for the Thurles trainer, having shown little in four starts for previous connections. It was also the first time the horse had raced over hurdles, as he was last seen when pulling up in a Beginners Chase at Limerick.
Prior to that, the six-year-old had shown little in two bumpers and a sole point-to-point start. Available at 80/1 early doors, the gelding was backed at all rates down to 7/1 before the off.
Travelling easily into the straight, the Molloy-trained runner arrived with his challenge on the run to the second last and went on. A good jump at the final flight sealed the issue and left connections smiling.
Mark Molloy, “The Hydes always loved him, thought he was a very nice horse but he got sick and it just didn’t pan out for him. They asked me would I like to take him on.
“He has issues and it’s a day-by-day thing but we’ll enjoy today. He was going well at home but he’d always looked like a nice horse and it hadn’t happened.
“It was hard to know would he handle this ground.
“Hopefully this is something to build on.”
