Glenstal Abbey makes a winning chase debut
Glenstal Abbey under David Casey, made a winning chase debut in the Family Day Beginners Chase at Tipperary today, leading home a 1-2 for owner J.P. McManus, with eye-cather Wise Old Owl staying on for second.
Glenstal Abbey had moved through to lead two out under a well judged Casey ride, while Wise Old Owl, which had raced in rear of mid-division in the early part of the race, stayed on late to take a never dangerous second.
Glenstal Abbey's trainer Charlie Swan later reported "I'm delighted with that as he jumped well enough and although it is hard to know what to make of the race, he seemed to be idling. We'll probably skip Galway as it may come a bit soon."
