Girl gives Morris breakthrough Group success
Luke Morris had a memorable trip to Ireland as Gilt Edge Girl gave him his first Group winner in the Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown.
The 21-year-old English pilot produced the filly to lead over a furlong from home and she stayed on strongly in the Group 3 contest. Beyond Desire tried to throw down a challenge but could only get within a length-and-a-quarter of Clive Cox's charge. Distinctive stayed on for third in a clean sweep for the raiding party, in an event which has went for export seven times in the past nine years.
"That's my first group winner - so it's nice to get," said Morris afterwards.
"The filly done it well and Clive has done a great job with her. She has improved out of all recognition."
