Gin Rummy all the way at Down Royal
A son of the first season stallion Red Clubs, Gin Rummy put his experience to good use by making all to land the second at Down Royal, the Rainbow Telecom European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden in the hands of Keagan Latham.
This was a nice success for owner Sean Jones as the juvenile qualified for the £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus Scheme and in reality Ger Lyons' charge was looking a likely winner for a fair bit of the seven furlong journey, keeping on well in the final furlong to beat Blue Mimosa by a length and a quarter.
Shane Lyons, representing his brother, said: "We're delighted to get the ten grand bonus. We always thought a lot of him during the winter. He done that well and hopefully he'll improve for it.
"He was entitled to win like that on his runs to date and Keagan gave him a great ride.
"Potentially he could go for a winners race at Bellewstown, that's a sharp track but it'll be up to the boss."
