Seventeen year old Dylan Browne McMonagle registered his first winner for Ghaiyyath's breeder Dermot Weld at Killarney today, as the pair struck in the Owens McCarthy Claims Apprentice Handicap with Moyglare Stud owned filly Mere Catherine
Ghaiyyath's dam Nightime was stallion Galileo's first Group 1 winner when landing the 2006 Irish 1,000 Guineas for Weld, who bred Ghaiyyath (by Dubawi) through his Springbank Way Stud.
Ghaiyyath sold for €1,100,000 as a foal and today bagged a fourth Group 1 win in the Juddmonte International at York.
At more mundane Killarney, Mere Catherine, a daughter of Pour Moi, gained a maiden win at the sixth attempt when coming from off the pace to eventually record a two and three parts of a length win over Martha's Vineyard
Browne McMonagle, winner of the Dingle Derby as a 12 year old, was himself riding his first winner for Weld on his sixth ride, bringing his own winning tally to 13.
