It was hard work for her but Getaway Gorgeous justified odds of 4/7 in the Wexford Mares Maiden Hurdle.
For the tip-top Cheltenham team of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend, the Listed bumper second placer toughed it out best on the run-in from My Midnight and Flying Risk Half a length and the same split them.
“She ran well on her last two runs and thankfully she put it all right today. She jumped well and in fairness she battled and stuck her head out in the finish today which might have been a question mark,” said Townend.
“It’s tough old going out there with the wind and the ground but there is loads of grass which is a big help.”
L.P. Dempsey, rider of Divine Approach trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his saddle slipped and he pulled up.
