Without a win since his dramatic (bad last flight mistake) success in the Totesport Trophy back in February 2010 but runner-up at three successive Cheltenham Festivals since, Get Me Out Of Here gained a deserved win in the Grade 2 Keelings Irish Strawberry Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
With favourite Oscars Well (ended up 4th) not performing at his best, it was left to outsider Tofino Bay (first time cheek-pieces) to test Get Me Out Of Here most. The latter got on top from the last under Tony McCoy and powered clear in the closing stages to prevail by three and three parts of a length.
McCoy said: "I'm glad for the horse – he deserved it. He's been running consistently well in all those big handicaps. The conditions of this race suited him."
Victorious trainer Jonjo O'Neill commented: "He's a great horse really and it's lovely to see him win a race like that after all those seconds. AP knows him really well and he might go to Punchestown. I think he'll get three miles."
Meanwhile he said of Synchronised ahead of next Saturday's Grand National: "He came out of the Gold Cup better than any other race and he's in great form." (MG & EM)
