Geraghty pounces late on Mahrajaan
Mahrajaan pounced on the run-in to land the concluding Corrib Oil Handicap Chase at Ballinrobe.
The winning run of favourites on the card was ended in the final contest with Carleton Place (9/4f) crashing out at the second last when looking beaten. Alabama Banjo had taken over before the penultimate fence but couldn't hold the late surge of Mahrajaan on the run-in as he finished to good effect, under Barry Geraghty, for a three-length victory.
"He was due one. He got his ground today and had a good man on board," said trainer Robbie Burns.
"I was nervous I might have left him a bit short of work. I don't have anything in mind for him at the minute."
