Geraghty brings home another gamble on Rubi
Barry Geraghty completed a double when Rubi Light justified strong market support (4/1 in the morning into 5/4) in the Martin Reilly Hyundai Steeplechase at Sligo.
Of course Geraghty had also got another well-backed winner home earlier in the shape of Barna Gold
Here he made all on Bill Hennessy's five-year-old, a mistake at the fifth doing little to hinder his progress. The French-bred kept on well from the last to hold the challenge of Streets Of Gold by a length and a quarter.
Robbie Hennessy, son of the winning owner and trainer of Rubi Light, said: "Barry said the mistake woke him up and that he'll come on a tonne for it. Bar the mistake he jumped brilliant. We are a bit restricted where we go because he won over fences in France – so a novice is out.
"We'll take our time with him as he could be decent and I'd love to see him on a good galloping track."
