Bottom weight The Bold Becky caused a 20/1 upset to win the Tramore Racecourse 2013 Special Recognition Award Handicap Hurdle at Tramore today for trainer T.J. Nagle and jockey Eddie O'Connell.
The Bold Becky avoided the falls of Drumlister and The Fitz Lady at an early flight and were clear at the final flight, over runner-up Wrong Way Corrigan when Andiamos and All Fired Up came down at the final flight. All riders were subsequently fine.
After the win, Nagle stated “she is a genuine little mare – she ran well in her first handicap at Mallow and then jumped terrible the last day at Killarney. Eddie (O'Connell) was very good on her.”
