Game And Glory led home a 1-2 for trainer Philip Rothwell when gaining a deserved win at odds of 8/1 in the Tramore Racecourse On Instagram Handicap Hurdle.

The daughter of Fame And Glory had picked up prizemoney on most of her previous 13 starts and made good headway to challenge on the downhill approach to the penultimate flight.

She was given most to do on the run-in by stablemate Siberian Star but held off that rival by a neck with a length and a half back to Hand Over Fist in third.

Rothwell said, “The little mare has been game. She was placed in a few bumpers last year and also in maiden hurdles. She’s been knocking on the door and deserved it.

“I didn’t quite know if here would suit as she didn’t really come down the hill in Clonmel so I told Jack to commit early down the hill today.

“She’s owned by John Leckey who has been a super supporter of mine for a number of years and we’ve had a lot of winners together. We’ve one or two nice horses for the winter so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards.

“I was delighted with the other horse as he’d lost his way a bit and he travelled better today.”
