Gallagher on the mark at local track
A great supporter of the game, owner Sean Gallagher likes nothing better than to have a winner at his local track in Bellewstown and he no doubt thoroughly enjoyed the fluent success of Secret Hero (6s into 5s) in division one of the jogforjockeys.ie Handicap under Billy Lee.
Twice a winner when with Richard Hannon, the blinkered six-year-old made all from his rails draw in one here and he was ridden clear a furlong and a half out, keeping on strongly to see off Grainne Whale by four and a half lengths.
Stephen Thorne, nephew and assistant to winning trainer Ado McGuinness, said: "It's grand to have a winner here. He got his own way in front and that suited him.
"We'll probably have him out again pretty soon. He has been working well since the last day he ran (28 days ago – 3rd at Naas)."
Fourth-placed Hyden was disqualified as his rider J C Tobin failed to weigh-in.
