Jordan Gainford followed up a weekend Grade 1 winner with another success for trainer Gordon Elliott today, as Gordons Aura (5/2) landed Fairyhouse's Bulmers Bundle For Easter Maiden Hurdle.
The Michael Phillips-owned son of Golden Horn made the running and while green in the early stages, eventually fought off the persistent challenge of 4/6 favourite Paradise Lost on the run-in, for a half length success.
Gainford won his first Grade 1 race on Gerri Colombe during Christmas and followed up on the Elliott-trained gelding in Saturday's top-level Scilly Isle Chase at Sandown.
Elliott wasn't present today with Gainford saying “Gordons Aura had to do all the hard work in front. Coming off his last run we were hopeful that he'd be bang there and he was. It was a good performance.
“For a horse that's after having a couple of runs he was taking a good look in front but in fairness to him, when it got down to the nitty gritty he dug deep.”
