Futter's friend's Field floors bookies

Sat 27th Dec 2008, 14:37

Philip Rothwell's Rockers Field overcame uninspiring '000P' form figures to land a morning price gamble at Limerick today, easily winning the Goggin Buckley Engineering Handicap Hurdle.

The gelding raced prominently throughout, before progressing to lead five out, staying on well in the straight for an easy eight lengths win over So Billiant

Backed from 12/1 in the morning before eventually returning 6/1 second favourite, Rothwell subsequently reported "Rockers Field worked in cheek pieces two weeks ago and was a different horse."

Grand National winning owner and well-known gambler Mike Futter was also on hand to report "Rockers Field is owned by a great friend of mine Herman O'Brien and that is his first winner in racing for about 40 years! However he couldn't be here today as he was ill."

The win was Wicklow trainer's fifth well backed winner in the last fourteen days.
