On outing number five the 79-rated Change Of Velocity got off the mark in the Ladies Day June 23rd (C & G) Maiden at Gowran.
Turret Rocks took the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes for winning trainer Jim Bolger and successful pilot Kevin Manning at this venue last week.
Their previous representative, Take A Nap (second favourite) could manage only fifth in the opener, but Change Of Velocity showed the benefit of his previous experience in race four on this programme.
Ballydoyle's odds-on favourite Conclusion gave him most to do but he eventually had to yield by two and a half lengths.
"I didn't think we would have to wait this long to win his maiden. He's a fine big horse who likes that good ground and should stay a bit further," said Bolger.
