Frisco proves best in thriller
The Dessie Hughes-trained Frisco Depot won a four-horse thriller to claim the beginners chase at Fairyhouse.
Only five went to post for the 2m5f contest but four of those fought it out from the final fence.
Long-time leader Banjaxed Girl (8/1 in morning into 3/1 joint-favourite) was headed at the second last by Dantes King
Frisco Depot battled to a narrow lead at the final fence but had plenty of challengers as Banjaxed Girl kept on again and Aitmatov stayed on from off the pace.
Bryan Cooper got a good tune from his mount, however, eventually getting him home by neck from Aitmatov.
It was just half a length back to Dantes King in third with Banjaxed Girl a neck behind.
The other 3/1 joint favourite Lios A Choill threw away his chance with a bad mistake at the third last and was pulled up.
"He jumped well and battled well, " said Cooper of the winner afterwards.
"He wasn't over keen on the ground. He took another blow on the home turn and I thought he was going to give up but he filled his lungs and went again."
