The Ger Lyons-trained Frenetic gave weight and a beating to a good field of sprinters in the Doneraile Handicap at Cork this evening.
Colin Keane settled his mount in behind the leaders on the far side in the €40,000 contest but she had to switch out after a couple of furlongs when hampered by leader Strong Johnson drifting left.
The Kodiac filly came to claim the long-time leader inside the final furlong and held the late charges of White Lavender and Chocquinto close home to record a three-parts-of-a-length win.
The 5/1 winner (13/2 this morning) was bouncing back to form having finished last in Listed company on her return to action here last month.
Shane Lyons said afterwards:- “The wheels are definitely back on the bus.
"She ran first time out here this year and the ground came up soft but we thought we'd run her to take the freshness off but as we know in hindsight, it was totally the wrong thing to do.
“We brought her home and said we'd wait for high-summer when we're not guessing with the ground.
"It is a fair ask carrying 10st against older horses and was a Group performance. Her work has been telling us she could run in a handicap.
"We're absolutely chuffed and she's in all the early closing races - the Flying Five and races like that."
