- French Emperor rules the roost
French Emperor rules the roost
Colm O’Donoghue made all on Eddie Lynam’s French Emperor to record a comfortable success in the six furlong Auction Race for two-year-old’s at Naas.
The son of Holy Roman Emperor bounced out of stall one well, grabbed an uncontested lead on the rail, and was never headed in coming home a length and a half clear.
The colt, who had run third behind the very useful Lilbourne Lad on two occasions, was sent off 2/1 joint favourite with Paul Deegan’s Naseem Sea who ran second throughout but dropped to third at the winning post.
Eddie Lynam said: “He appreciated the drop in class. Colm said he was very professional.
“He’s in again in a listed race on Friday [Tipperary] and he may go there.” Pitlochry under Keagan Latham from the Ger Lyons yard kept on well to take second at 9/4.
