There is a busy day in store on the domestic front with free admission to all racegoers at the rescheduled Flat meeting in Bellewstown this afternoon added to early evening jumping action at Clonmel.
Bellewstown was cancelled due to waterlogging last Saturday and the going is again sure to be testing with further showers forecast this morning. The going is heavy.
The action gets underway at 1.15 and the Jessica Harrington-trained Love Mocha has been well-supported into 7/4 for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden.
Local trainer James McAuley could have up to seven runners at Bellewstown and, having linked up with Colin Keane to score with Bringsty at Leopardstown yesterday, may again successfully team up with the champion jockey as Tawaazon has strong claims in the Bright Software Handicap (3.40).
McAuley also has a strong hand in the Lougher Stables Handicap (2.30) where Scarlet Dancer and Ghumama have both been supported at the head of an open market.
The going is also heavy at Clonmel (first race 4pm) following a further 5mm of rain since declarations and more showers are forecast this morning.
Gavin Cromwell has decent prospects at both meetings with Theonewedreamof a solid 2/1 favourite for the awardsandgifts.ie Handicap at Bellewstown (4.15), while Bay Ambition and Fameaftertheglory both look set to go off favourite at Clonmel.
Bay Ambition was placed here last month and should be suited by a step up to an extended 2m6f in the Botanica International Mares Handicap Chase (5.10), while Fameaftertheglory is strongly fancied in the following Clionas Foundation Opportunity Maiden Hurdle (5.45).
