Gordon Elliott continued his excellent festive form by landing Fairyhouse's featured John & Chich Fowler Memorial EBF Mares Chase today, as Riviere D'etel (100/30) added a Grade 3 success to the trainer's impressive recent haul.
Elliott this week won three Leopardstown Christmas festival Grade 1 races and another Grade 2 at the Dublin course while Riviere D'etel adding today's Grade 3 prize.
Racing behind the leaders, the seven-year-old mare led at the fourth-last, moving well clear in the home straight to score by 33 lengths, in testing conditions, from runner-up Allegorie De Vassy
Elliott and Riviere D'etel's rider Jack Kennedy had earlier won the opener with Molly's Mango and following the feature-race, the trainer reported “she'll probably be very hard to place as I'd say going right-handed really suited her.
“Jack said she loved the ground, he said she stayed very well and we're delighted with her.
“I don't know where I'll go with her but I'd love to go right-handed. Cheltenham (in March) wouldn't be out of the question, I'll talk to Noel (Moran, owner) and see what they want to do, but it just mightn't be the right place for her.”
