Oskar High registered a fourth career win at Ballinrobe today as the Norman Lee trained nine year old landed the Burkes Clonbur Handicap Hurdle under jockey Gavin Brouder.
Previously successful in handicap hurdles in 2017, 2019 and last August when, respectively, rated 83, 94 and 81, Oskar High today won from a mark of 88 when beating Dedanann by four and a quarter lengths.
Trainer Lee, whose stable star Sole Pretender finished sixth in July's Galway Hurdle, today stated “he’s a real fun horse that jumps and stays. He’d 9st7lb on his back today and was entitled to be competitive. He did it well.
“We were worried about the ground as it was raining down our side this morning but it’s way better than they are saying. It’s on the good side of yielding.
“He might go to Listowel as long as the ground is not too soft and is belonging to two great lads, Darragh and Pat Gleeson — a nephew and uncle from Dunmore near Tuam, who enjoy it.” Landa Beach the 3/1 favourite, was fatally injured having fallen at the final flight.
