The concluding Christy Lucey Transport Limited (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race proved a triumph for the Madden family as Forgetthesurprise scored in the hands of Aine O’Connor.
O’Connor recently got engaged to Niall ‘Slippers’ Madden, whose father and namesake trains the Getaway mare.
For good measure the winner carries the colours of the trainer’s daughter Sarah Ann.
The 4/1 chance headed the front-running Cast In Grey early inside the final furlong and kept on really well to beat that rival by two and three quarter lengths. Scarlet Revera was a head back in third, while the 4/5 favourite Wings Of Destiny could make no impression from well over a furlong out finishing fifth.
Winning trainer Niall Madden said, “She goes on that ground, and hadn’t run for a while before the last day in Wexford where she was a bit too keen.
“Niall and Aine were away on holidays last week and got engaged so it’s great to win here.
“She is for sale and may go back hurdling.”
