Footprint tops in exciting finish
Footprint beats Knights Templar and Sophies Echo at Galway

There was an exciting conclusion to the Caulfield Industrial Athlone Handicap but not perhaps if you were involved in the plunge on the 2/1 favourite Indian Landing as he was run out of the placings near the line. Top-weight Footprint ended up triumphing by a head, a head and a short head from Knights Templar Sophies Echo and the aforementioned Indian Landing.
Despite going off at 14/1 Footprint himself didn't go unbacked and he arrived with his challenge travelling well under Andrew Thornton.
The victorious Footstepsinthesand gelding can be a little tricky though and even got permission to enter the parade ring late.
In fairness to the six-year-old, second here in the past, found enough in the final furlong as third home Sophies Echo and the fifth Eighteen Summers caught the eye by finishing out their races strongly.
"He had to fight but he had a nice draw (stall five) and he travelled. Then the gaps appeared at the right time. He probably just gets seven and no more." (TW & EM)
