Trainer David Marnane registered his second win of the new flat season when his Settle For Bay made a winning handicap debut in the Leopardstown Family Raceday Handicap at Leopardstown today, and completing a double under jockey Shane Foley.
The son of Rio De La Plata was held up in mid-division for much of the race but flew home to eventually edge past leader Gino Severini close home, for a neck win.
Afterwards Marnane stated “we thought a bit of him last year but our horses weren’t right last year and he was a bit jarred up after one run.
“He’s done that nice but has to improve a bit more and can step up another furlong. We’ll have to see where we go with him.”
